• Varosi: The old quarter next to the waterfalls, with traditional houses and narrow streets. Ideal for a stroll and coffee.
• Tip: The stairs can be slippery in rain or ice. Therefore, you need shoes with good grip.

Kaimaktsalan and ski resort climate without hasty decisions

Kaimaktsalan (Mount Voras, Pella) is the next step if you want snow. Its slopes extend from approximately 2,040 to 2,480 meters. Furthermore, it is one of the few ski resorts in Greece with snow cannons.

• Before you leave, check four things: if the ski resort is operating that day, the weather, road conditions, and instructions for snow chains.
• Snow chains: You can request them with your booking. Additionally, it is advisable to learn how to put them on before reaching the mountain, not on the ice.

However, the summit refuges usually close by the end of October, and there is snow at high altitudes. Without mountaineering experience, winter Olympus is for lower-altitude routes: a stroll in Litochoro and the Enipeas Gorge trail, always depending on the weather.
