Car Rental Terms and Conditions from City Car Rental Thessaloniki

DRIVER’S LICENSE: The driver of the car must have held a driver’s license for at least one year prior to the rental date. The driver must hold either a driver’s license issued by a member state of the European Union or an international driver’s license. (Insurance Company Terms and Conditions).

DRIVER’S AGE: The minimum age requirement is 21 years for small car categories. For all other categories, the minimum age requirement is 23 years. Please note that full insurance coverage applies to drivers aged 23 and older. For SUV categories, the age limit is 25 years. (Insurance Company Terms and Conditions)

DEPOSIT: Drivers must have a credit card or debit card for deposit purposes. If they do not have a credit card or debit card, only under special circumstances and subject to City Car Rental’s approval may they be able to rent only vehicles in categories B, B1, or C after providing a cash security deposit for the rental, in addition to the rental fee, which will be refunded to them at the end of the rental.

MINIMUM RENTAL PERIOD: One day (24 hours). Each hour of delay after the completion of the 24-hour rental period is charged at 2/6 of the daily rental fee. After 3 hours, a full day’s rental fee applies.

Fueling: The Customer is required to return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental. If the Customer fails to refuel the vehicle, the Lessor will provide a refueling service and charge the Customer for the cost of the service, as listed in the Main Price List, as well as the cost of the missing liters of fuel.

Kilometers: Rental kilometers are calculated from City Car Rental’s headquarters. The maximum daily mileage is 150 km for the first 4 days of the rental. For reservations of more than 5 days, mileage is unlimited. The charge for extra kilometers ranges from €0.10 to €0.40 per kilometer, depending on the vehicle category.

Driving outside Greek borders is not permitted.

CHANGES: In certain specific cases, the company reserves the right to change the type of vehicle, but only as part of a category upgrade.

SHIPPING BY SHIP: Included in the basic insurance coverage for all cars.

PICKUP – DROP-OFF AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS: The One Way service allows the Customer to return the vehicle to a city other than the one where the rental began. This service must be agreed upon in advance by the lessor, at its sole discretion, within Greece.

OFFERS: City Car Rental’s offers are valid for only seven days. After seven days have passed, if the customer has not accepted the offer, it expires. Customers should request a new, valid offer.

SPECIAL OFFERS / DISCOUNTS: Special offers are valid only for the specified dates, vehicles, and locations. Only one (1) special offer may be applied to a car rental rate.

TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS: All traffic fines and any other consequences are the responsibility of the renter.

SECOND DRIVER: Adding a second driver to the rental agreement incurs no charge: 0.00 euros per day (VAT included).

GPS: Available at the time of booking for a fee of 5.00 euros per day (VAT included); this fee applies for a maximum of 10 days (i.e., 50 euros).

CHILD SAFETY SEATS: Available upon reservation for 2.00 euros per day (VAT included); this charge applies for a maximum of 25 days (i.e., 50 euros).

SNOW CHAINS: Available upon reservation for 0.00 euros per day (including VAT).

PRICES: The prices listed on the website are subject to change without notice.

Payments: We accept payments via cash, credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards from Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Diners, and Discover.

The insurance coverage provided with the car rental includes:

Insurance Exclusions

Insurance coverage does not extend to damages resulting from intentional misuse of the vehicle, driving on unauthorized roads or dirt roads, violation of the Highway Code, or driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other substances. Furthermore, coverage is not provided unless the following procedures are followed: In the event of damage or an accident, the driver must contact our company immediately to initiate the insurance company’s accident claims process and call the police right away (tel. 112). Failure to comply with the above instructions means that the customer will be liable for the full cost of the damage. In addition, renters must wait for the insurance company and the police to arrive to file an accident report, a copy of which must be presented upon returning the vehicle. Damage resulting from non-compliance with the law or from unauthorized use of the vehicle is not covered by insurance, and the renter is responsible for the full cost of the damage. All cars are equipped with a GPS tracking system for the safety of the vehicles and passengers.

The tenant is also responsible for:

City Car Rental is not liable for personal items stolen from or lost in the vehicle, or for damage or accidents caused by the driver’s intoxication or drug use. The police report must specify whether any of the parties involved were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In the event of theft, the customer must immediately notify the company and return the keys and the police report as soon as possible. Any damage must be reported to the company immediately. Failure to report such damage will result in the customer being charged for all related expenses. Compliance with the Highway Code is the sole responsibility of the renter and is not covered by insurance. All cars are equipped with a GPS system to ensure the safety of the vehicles and passengers. In the event that the renter causes damage and is at fault, they must pay the corresponding deductible based on the vehicle category, and the car must be picked up from the company’s headquarters; otherwise, they will be charged the corresponding delivery fees. Any damage, regardless of liability, will be subject to a one-time administrative fee of €100.00.

Traffic Violation Fines

The renter is fully liable for fines and damages resulting from failure to comply with traffic regulations, which are not covered by insurance. If fines are not paid directly by the customer, we charge a processing fee of 20% in addition to the amount of the fine. Municipal police fines are charged at 100% of the amount required by law for fines on company-owned and rental cars. In the event that license plates are removed or the vehicle is towed, the cost is covered by the renter provided that City Car Rental handles the process.

 

Cancellation Policy:

To cancel a confirmed reservation, please send us an email or call us at +30 2310202029. The reservations department will review your cancellation request within 3 days and notify you via email regarding the refund of the amount you paid for your confirmed reservationPlease note that a cancellation policy applies, and in some cases, you may forfeit your deposit.

According to the cancellation policy, titled:

100% refund of any prepaid amount, provided that the cancellation is made 21 days before arrival,

50% refund, provided the cancellation is made 15 to 21 days before arrival,

30% refund if the cancellation is made 7–14 days before arrival,

No refunds will be issued if the cancellation is made less than 7 days before pickup or in the event of a no-show.
