Car Rental Terms and Conditions from City Car Rental Thessaloniki

DRIVING LICENSE: The driver must have held a driving license for at least one year prior to the rental date. An International Driving Permit is not required for licenses issued by an EU member state, the United Kingdom, the USA, or Australia. Drivers with licenses from any other country must also possess an International Driving Permit; without it, comprehensive insurance is not provided. (Insurance Company Terms).

DRIVER’S AGE: Drivers must be between 21 and 84 years old. Drivers aged 23–74 have full insurance without excess for most car categories; where an excess applies, the amount is stated in the initial booking. Insurance does not cover keys, tires, and rims. Drivers aged 21–22 and 75–84 rent without comprehensive insurance. For these age groups, an additional charge of €25 per rental applies. (Insurance Company Terms)

SECURITY DEPOSIT: No security deposit amount is held on the customer’s card for any car category.

MINIMUM RENTAL PERIOD: One day (24 hours). Each hour of delay after the completion of the 24-hour rental period is charged at 2/6 of the daily rental fee. After 3 hours, a full day’s rental fee applies.

FUEL POLICY: The Customer is required to return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, only the missing liters of fuel will be charged.

Mileage: Rental mileage is calculated from City Car Rental’s headquarters. For bookings up to 4 days, the maximum daily mileage is 150 km. For bookings over 4 days, mileage is unlimited. The charge for extra kilometers ranges from €0.10-€0.40 per kilometer, depending on the vehicle category.

Driving outside Greek borders is not permitted.

CHANGES: In certain specific cases, the company reserves the right to change the type of vehicle, but only as part of a category upgrade.

SHIPPING BY SHIP: Included in the basic insurance coverage for all cars.

PICKUP – DROP-OFF AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS: The One Way service allows the Customer to return the vehicle to a city other than the one where the rental began. This service must be agreed upon in advance by the lessor, at its sole discretion, within Greece.

OFFERS: City Car Rental’s offers are valid for only seven days. After seven days have passed, if the customer has not accepted the offer, it expires. Customers should request a new, valid offer.

SPECIAL OFFERS / DISCOUNTS: Special offers are valid only for the specified dates, vehicles, and locations. Only one (1) special offer may be applied to a car rental rate.

TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS: All traffic fines and any other consequences are the responsibility of the renter.

SECOND DRIVER: Adding a second driver to the rental agreement incurs no charge: 0.00 euros per day (VAT included).

GPS: Available at the time of booking for a fee of 5.00 euros per day (VAT included); this fee applies for a maximum of 10 days (i.e., 50 euros).

CHILD SAFETY SEATS: Available upon booking at a price of 3.00 euros per day (VAT included).

SNOW CHAINS: Available upon booking for a charge of 3.00 euros per day (VAT included).

PRICES: The prices listed on the website are subject to change without notice.

PAYMENTS: Payment by cash or Visa and Mastercard. American Express (AMEX) cards are also accepted, with an additional 5% charge due to high commission fees.

The insurance coverage provided with the car rental includes:

Insurance Exclusions

Insurance coverage does not extend to damages resulting from intentional misuse of the vehicle, driving on dirt roads and generally on unpaved or unauthorized roads, driving on racetracks, excessive speeding, driving by an unauthorized driver (not listed in the contract), violation of the Road Traffic Code, or driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other substances. Furthermore, coverage is not provided unless the following procedures are followed: In the event of damage or an accident, the driver must contact our company immediately to activate the insurance accident care process. The company will inform the driver if the police need to be called (tel. 112). Failure to comply with the above instructions means that the customer will be liable for the full cost of the damage. In addition, renters must wait for the insurance company and the police to arrive to complete an accident report, a copy of which must be presented upon returning the vehicle. Damages resulting from non-compliance with laws or from unauthorized use of the vehicle are not covered by insurance, and the renter assumes the full cost of the damages. All cars are equipped with a GPS tracking system for the safety of the vehicles and passengers.

The tenant is also responsible for:

City Car Rental is not liable for personal items stolen or lost from the vehicle, or for damages or accidents due to the driver’s intoxication or drug use. The police report must specify whether any of the parties involved were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In case of theft, the customer must immediately notify the company and hand over the keys and the police report as soon as possible. Any damage must be reported to the company immediately. Failure to report will result in the customer being charged for all related expenses. Compliance with the Road Traffic Code is the sole responsibility of the renter and is not covered by insurance. All cars are equipped with a GPS tracking system for the safety of the vehicles and passengers. Should the renter cause damage and be at fault, they will be required to pay the vehicle category’s excess, if applicable, and the car must be picked up from the company’s headquarters or they will be charged the corresponding delivery fees. For damage caused by the driver’s fault, a one-time administrative fee of €100.00 is imposed. If the driver is not at fault, the fee is not charged.

Traffic Violation Fines

The renter is fully liable for fines and damages resulting from failure to comply with traffic regulations, which are not covered by insurance. If fines are not paid directly by the customer, we charge a processing fee of 20% in addition to the amount of the fine. Municipal police fines are charged at 100% of the amount required by law for fines on company-owned and rental cars. In the event that license plates are removed or the vehicle is towed, the cost is covered by the renter provided that City Car Rental handles the process.

 

Cancellation Policy:

To cancel a confirmed reservation, please send us an email or call us at +30 2310202029. The reservations department will review your cancellation request within 3 days and notify you via email regarding the refund of the amount you paid for your confirmed reservationPlease note that a cancellation policy applies, and in some cases, you may forfeit your deposit.

According to the cancellation policy, titled:

100% refund of any prepaid amount, provided that the cancellation is made 21 days before arrival,

50% refund, provided the cancellation is made 15 to 20 days before arrival,

30% refund if the cancellation is made 7–14 days before arrival,

No refund if cancellation is made less than 7 days before pick-up or in case of no-show. If no prepayment has been made, cancellation is free.
