At City Car Rental we do not block any amount on your card. You only need to show a physical credit or debit card (VISA or Mastercard) in the driver’s name. This applies for pick-up at Thessaloniki Macedonia Airport (SKG) and at our city-centre office, 38 Doirani St.
We are a local car rental company in Thessaloniki, operating since 2013, with a fleet of 80 cars.
What “no deposit” means
- No amount blocked on your card, neither at pick-up nor during the rental.
- Debit cards are also accepted, as long as it is a physical VISA or Mastercard in the driver’s name.
- We do not accept virtual cards.
What is included in the price
- Third-party liability
- Full vehicle insurance and collision damage, subject to the excess of each vehicle category (shown when you book)
- Total theft (with a police report)
- Personal accident cover for driver and passengers
- Glass breakage
- 24-hour roadside assistance
- Cover during ferry transport to an island
- Unlimited kilometres
- Free second driver
- Free isofix child seats
Insurance is valid only within Greece.
What the insurance does not cover
- Damage to wheels, tyres and the underside of the car
- Interior damage
- Mechanical damage caused by misuse
- Refuelling with the wrong fuel
- Lost or damaged keys
- Loss of equipment (spare wheel, tools, warning triangle, fire extinguisher, luggage cover)
- Deep cleaning if the car is returned very dirty
- Accident handling costs when the driver is at fault
- Traffic-code violations, or driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances: insurance cover no longer applies
- Accidents that are not fully reported (informing our company, and a report by the insurer and the police)
What you need to rent
- Passport, or ID card (for EU citizens)
- European driving license, at least 1 year old. If not European, an International Driving Permit is also required.
- Physical credit or debit card (VISA/Mastercard) in the driver’s name
- Driver’s age 21–84 years. For drivers aged 21–22 and 75–84, there is an additional charge of €25 per rental and Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is not available.
Pick-up at Thessaloniki Airport (SKG)
We will be waiting for you at Parking P3, directly opposite the Arrivals exit, at your booking time. Pick-up and return are available 24 hours a day, by appointment. You do not pay for parking.
The office at 38 Doirani St is open Monday–Saturday 08:00–14:30 (closed Sunday). Outside office hours, delivery is by appointment. For deliveries and pick-ups from 21:00 to 07:00, there is an additional charge of €25.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you block an amount on my card?
No. We do not block any amount. You only need to show a physical credit or debit card in the driver’s name, to be registered in the booking system without any amount blocked.
Can I rent with a debit card?
Yes, with a physical VISA or Mastercard debit card in the driver’s name. Virtual cards are not accepted.
Does the ‘no deposit’ rental also apply at the airport?
Yes. It applies both at Thessaloniki Macedonia Airport (SKG, Parking P3) and at our office at 38 Doirani St.
What about fuel?
The ‘same-to-same’ policy applies: you return the car with the same amount of fuel. If fuel is missing, only the missing amount is charged, at the current price.
Can I cancel the booking?
Yes, by email or phone. The refund of the advance payment depends on when you cancel: 21+ days before 100%, 15–20 days 50%, 7–14 days 30%, less than 7 days or no-show 0%.
